KYRA LAUBACHER
Editor
You write. I buff and burnish.
As an editor, I ensure your writing lands effectively, reads clearly, and shows your work in its best form—whether it’s for a book, journal, or magazine. I edit both fiction and nonfiction and am available for freelance work on a contractual basis.
Specialties and interest areas:
Fiction: Literary fiction, magical realism, historical fiction, and children's literature.
Nonfiction: Dance and the performing arts, biography, memoir, and wildlife.
A bit about me:
I'm a word nerd and reading enthusiast with a lifelong love for the arts and Earth. For my full-time work, I'm the editor in chief of Dance Spirit and a member of the editorial team for Dance Magazine and Pointe, published by Dance Media. I hold a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in English Literature from Butler University, and I danced with Eugene Ballet in Eugene, Oregon following graduation. In 2024, I earned my certification in Manuscript Editing through the University of Chicago. I'm a proud member of the Honors Society of Phi Beta Kappa and the Editorial Freelancers Association, and I serve as the newsletter editor for the University of Arizona's Wild Cat Research and Conservation program.
In my spare time, I love a good read—especially with a furry friend curled up next to me. You'll also find me frequenting dance performances (especially ballet) as often as I can, and I've been known to dance around the kitchen when the mood strikes.
